Effects on Your Baking
The vanilla flavor is very similar, as both contain real vanilla. Bean paste has a slightly more concentrated, intense flavor and provides visible black vanilla bean specks that extract doesn't. In recipes where those beautiful specks matter aesthetically (crème brûlée, vanilla ice cream, buttercream), you'll miss the visual element but the flavor will be nearly identical.
