Effects on Your Baking

Barley malt has a distinctive malty, grain-like sweetness that molasses cannot replicate. Molasses is deeper, more bitter, and more intense. Since barley malt is about half as sweet as molasses, use half the amount to avoid an overly dark, bitter result.
